Rea Carey is an American LGBTQ rights activist and the Executive Director of the National LGBTQ Task Force, the oldest national LGBTQ advocacy organization in the United States. She has been a leader in the LGBTQ rights movement for over 25 years, working to advance social, political, and economic justice for LGBTQ people.
Carey began her career as a community organizer and activist in Chicago in the 1990s, working on issues related to HIV/AIDS and reproductive rights. She later served as Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force from 2008 to 2018 before assuming her current role with the National LGBTQ Task Force.
