Raymond Arsenault is an American historian, civil rights activist, and professor at the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg.

He is best known for his work on the Civil Rights Movement, particularly his book "Freedom Riders: 1961 and the Struggle for Racial Justice." Arsenault has won numerous awards and honors for his scholarship, including the Bancroft Prize in American History and Diplomacy. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow and a Senior Fellow at the National Endowment for the Humanities.
