Pastor Ortlund holds a B.A. from Wheaton College, a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary, an M.A. from UC Berkeley, and a Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. From 1989 to 1998, Pastor Ortlund taught Old Testament and Semitic Languages at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois.
He is now the pastor of Immanuel Congregation (an Acts 29 church) in Nashville, Tennessee, and a member of The Gospel Coalition's Council. Pastor Ortlund is regarded as one of the world's foremost experts on the book of Isaiah, having written the study notes for the ESV Study Bible.
