Ray Billingsley is an American comic strip artist and writer best known for his long-running comic strip "Curtis." Billingsley began drawing early and was inspired by the comic strips he read in the local newspaper. He eventually moved to New York City and started working on "Curtis" in 1988, following an African-American boy's adventures growing up in the inner city.
The comic strip is syndicated in over 250 newspapers worldwide. It has been recognized for its positive portrayal of African-American characters and culture. In addition to his work on "Curtis," Billingsley has illustrated several children's books and received numerous awards for his contributions to the comic strip industry.
