Ravi Howard is an American author, journalist, and screenwriter. Howard graduated from Howard University and received an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Virginia. Howard's debut novel, "Like Trees, Walking" (2007), is a fictionalized account of the 1981 lynching of Michael Donald in Mobile, Alabama. The novel won the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence.

It was a finalist for the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award. Howard's second novel, "Driving the King" (2015), is a fictionalized account of Nat King Cole's friendship with a white man from Montgomery, Alabama. In addition to his work as a novelist, Howard is an accomplished journalist and screenwriter.
