Ramana Laxminarayan is a healthcare economist and epidemiologist. He is currently a professor of Global Health at the University of Washington and the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy Director. He has extensive experience researching and advising on infectious disease control, antibiotic resistance, health economics, and health policy.

Laxminarayan was born in India and completed his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He then earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington. He has served on numerous national and international committees, including the World Health Organization's Advisory Group on Integrated Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance.
