Rachel Shelley is an English actress who is best known for her roles in the television series "Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India," "The L Word," and "Strike Back." Shelley began acting in the early 1990s, appearing in British television shows "The Bill," "Casualty," and "Cracker." In 2001, she landed the role of Elizabeth Russell in the epic Indian film "Lagaan," which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Her breakthrough role came in 2004 when she was cast as Helena Peabody in the Showtime drama series "The L Word." The series, which ran for six seasons, explored the lives and relationships of lesbian and bisexual women in Los Angeles. Shelley's portrayal of Helena earned her critical acclaim and a devoted fan following.
