Evan has led product and engineering teams at firms ranging from his own self-funded start-ups to major Fortune 500 corporations at every level of venture funding. He was the first employee, main developer, and architect on Odeo's Ruby on Rails online application framework, which was a breakthrough in decreasing the hurdles to programming, from 2004 to 2006. Odeo is most recognized for being the business that founded Twitter; as a result, Evan is well-positioned to relate the tale of how Twitter came to be — via mistakes, shifting to open innovation and experimentation. Evan joined Yahoo Brickhouse in 2007 as a lead web developer and hacker, where he was the architect of FireEagle, Yahoo's first Ruby on Rails application. Cubox, the top Latin American agile Ruby on Rails consultancy, was founded by him in 2008 and was bought by Neo Innovation, a creative firm that creates digital solutions for organizations, in 2012. That year, Evan joined Neo as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), a post he maintained until 2014. Evan was a founding member of the Indymedia network, which is an independent and alternative collection of media activists and organizations that provides grassroots, non-corporate, non-commercial coverage of significant social and political problems. In 2014, he co-founded Crafted Code, his most recent company.
