Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, or R.A. Mashelkar, is an Indian chemical engineer and former Director-General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He is known for his work in polymer science and technology. He has over 50 patents and 200 scientific papers to his name. Mashelkar is also recognized for shaping India's science and technology policies.
Mashelkar obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bombay (now Mumbai). He later earned a Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Salford in the United Kingdom. Mashelkar has held various positions in academia, government, and industry throughout his career.
