R. Scott Appleby is a historian and scholar of religion. He is the Marilyn Keough Dean of the University of Notre Dame's Keough School of Global Affairs and a professor of history and peace studies. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and his Ph.D. in history from the University of Chicago.
