About Quiet Riot

Quiet Riot Biography

The band QUIET RIOT is a rock and roll sensation. The Los Angeles foursome became an overnight success owing to their huge 1983 smash album Metal Health, which was dubbed "the first heavy metal band to dominate the mainstream charts." Condition Critical, their follow-up album, went double platinum, and the band continued to record and perform for the next 25 years. In 2012, QUIET RIOT will be joined by Metal Health founding member Frankie Banali, QUIET RIOT veteran bassist Chuck Wright, and QUIET RIOT guitarist Alex Grossi from their most recent and consistent lineup. Jizzy Pearl, the new vocalist for QUIET RIOT, has been announced. Kevin DuBrow created a new group on his own name in 1980, working with Frankie Banali and a variety of musicians over the next few years before signing with Pasha/CBS Records, reverting back to the QUIET RIOT moniker, and entering the studio with new guitarist Carlos Cavazo and bassist Chuck Wright to begin work on a new album. The year was 1982, and following Randy Rhoads' well-documented death, longtime henchman Rudy Sarzo departed Ozzy, replacing Chuck Wright, who played bass on both the Metal Health and Don't Wanna Let You Go songs on the record, to complete the lineup and sessions for what would become 1983's Metal Health. The album raced up the US charts, hitting number one and going platinum five times over in the process, thanks to the irresistible twin whammy of the title track's powerful bass riff and a rowdy interpretation of the old Slade song Cum on Feel the Noize. Metal Health has already sold more than 10 million copies throughout the world. QUIET RIOT returned to the studio in 1984 to record Condition Critical, which went on to sell over 2 million copies in the United States and featured Mama Weer All Crazee Now, another chart-ready Slade cover, and the self-penned Party All Night. Sarzo was replaced by former bassist Chuck Wright when QUIET RIOT reformed in 1986 to promote the QR III album. With Banali, Cavazo, and new bassist Sean McNabb, vocalist Paul Shortino stepped in and recorded 1988's simply titled Quiet Riot. DuBrow and Cavazo reunited in 1991, this time with Frankie Banali, and recorded Terrified with bassist Kenny Hillery in 1993. Two years later, with Chuck Wright back on bass, Down to the Bone was released, and in 1997, a one-off performance at an after-show party organized by industrial shock rocker Marilyn Manson, who had asked that QUIET RIOT play, enticed bassist Rudy Sarzo back to the fold. QUIET RIOT took the road with that lineup once again, performing at venues across America, Europe, and Asia. This lineup was documented on the album Alive and Well, released in 1999, and Guilty Pleasures, released in 2001. In October of 2003, QUIET RIOT officially parted ways with Rudy Sarzo and Carlos Cavazo. DuBrow and Banali hired guitarist Alex Grossi and bassist Chuck Wright in 2004 and toured continuously throughout America, Europe, South America, and Asia until 2006. DuBrow and Banali went into the studio with bassist Tony Franklin and guitarist Neil Citron, both long-time friends of Banali, to record Rehab in 2006. QUIET RIOT's lineup of DuBrow, Banali, Wright, and Grossi continued to perform live across the world until November 2007, when Kevin DuBrow's vocal career was tragically cut short by his death on November 25, 2007. Frankie Banali has been a member of QUIET RIOT for almost 28 years, and he holds the distinction of being the only member to have recorded on every single QUIET RIOT album from Metal Health in 1983 through Rehab in 2006. Frankie has decided to continue his journey and the musical legacy of QUIET RIOT with bassist Chuck Wright, guitarist Alex Grossi, and vocalist Jizzy Pearl, nearly three years after the death of his friend and bandmate Kevin DuBrow, after careful consideration, soul searching, and with the blessings and support of Kevin DuBrow's family.
