Qian Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Department of Chemistry (Affiliated) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). She earned her BS in Chemistry from Peking University in China in 2007 and her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from UIUC in 2012 under Prof. Steve Granick.
After completing her Ph.D., she was awarded the prestigious Miller fellowship at UC Berkeley. She worked with Prof. Paul Alivisatos on in situ TEM-related energy studies and bio-imaging. Dr. Chen's research interests include developing new materials with unique structures and properties and using advanced imaging techniques to understand their behavior at the nanoscale.
