John Palfrey is a lawyer, educator, and author currently serving as the President of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Before joining MacArthur, Palfrey was the Head of School at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, overseeing the institution's academic program and operations.
He was also a faculty member at Harvard Law School for 16 years, teaching courses on Internet law and intellectual property.
