Porochista Khakpour is an Iranian-American author and writer. She grew up in the United States and attended Sarah Lawrence College and the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars. Khakpour has written several books, including "Sons and Other Flammable Objects," "The Last Illusion," and "Sick." Khakpour's work often explores themes of identity, culture, and displacement.
In her memoir Sick, she chronicles her experiences living with late-stage Lyme disease, a chronic illness she has struggled with for many years. Her writing has been featured in various publications, including The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Paris Review.
