Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka is a South African politician and women's rights advocate currently serving as the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women. Mlambo-Ngcuka began her political career as a member of the African National Congress and served as Deputy President of South Africa under President Thabo Mbeki.

She later became Minister of Minerals and Energy under President Jacob Zuma. As Executive Director of UN Women, Mlambo-Ngcuka leads the organization's efforts to promote gender equality and empower women worldwide. She has been a vocal advocate for ending violence against women and girls, closing the gender pay gap, and increasing women's participation in political and economic decision-making.
