Since October 2011, he has served as Salesforce.com's Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning. Schwartz has published a number of books on a range of futuristic subjects. Many regard his debut book, The Art of the Long View (Doubleday, 1991), to be the fundamental work on scenario planning; it was named the finest all-time book on the future by the Association of Professional Futurists, and it is utilized as a textbook by many business schools. An Abrupt Climate Change Scenario and Its Implications for United States National Security, co-authored by him, was published by the Pentagon.
