Peter Saul is a painter from the United States. Pop Art, Surrealism, and Expressionism are all influences on his work. He is considered one of the founding fathers of the Pop Art movement because of his early usage of pop culture cartoon allusions in the late 1950s and early 1960s. During his career, he completed around 800 paintings.
Saul lectured at the University of Texas in Austin during the 1980s and 1990s. During this period, his style evolved, focusing on a more glamorous portrayal of "low" topics, influenced largely by 19th-century art.
