Dr. Peter Salama is a medical doctor and epidemiologist who has dedicated his career to global health. He is currently the Executive Director of the Health Emergencies Programme at the World Health Organization (WHO), overseeing the organization's response to outbreaks and other health emergencies worldwide. Before joining WHO, Dr. Salama worked for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
He served as the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa and as the Global Coordinator for Ebola, overseeing the organization's response to the 2014 outbreak in West Africa. Dr. Salama has also worked for the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
