Peter Frampton returns this spring with Thank You Mr. Churchill, his most intimate compilation to date, after his Grammy Award-winning instrumental album Fingerprints from 2006. Frampton co-produced and co-engineered the 11-song collection, which shows the famous guitarist at his most incisive lyrically as he addresses the wars that wage within us and the external forces that raging around us. His piercing guitar work pervades each song, creating the tone. Churchill's centerpiece, the haunting, two-part, 8-minute instrumental "Suite: Liberté," exemplifies this. Frampton adds, "This record is quite autobiographical." “It begins with my birth, for which I am grateful to Mr. Churchill for bringing my father home from WWII.” Churchill is extremely intimate, weaving tales of grief, love, and redemption, as well as the lessons gained along the road, at his home studio in Cincinnati. Frampton's introspective perspective on problematic current events, such as the Wall Street bailout ("Restraint") and even the terrible story of Megumi Yokota, a Japanese girl kidnapped by South Korea more than 30 years ago ("Asleep At The Wheel"), are included in Churchill. All of the songs on Churchill were written by Frampton, with several of them co-written by frequent partner Gordon Kennedy. It was the first time the two had worked together in 30 years after reuniting over Facebook. Don Gunn (Death Cab For Cutie) also participates to Churchill as a co-engineer. The renowned Funk Brothers feature on Frampton's Motown tribute, "Invisible Man," and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron, who previously appeared on Fingerprints. Frampton is still regarded as one of rock's most renowned musicians and guitarists. He was the lead vocalist and guitarist for the British adolescent band the Herd when he was 16 years old. He co-founded one of the earliest supergroups, Humble Pie when he was 18 years old. The thrilling Frampton Comes Alive!, his sixth solo album, is one of the best-selling live albums of all time.
