Peter Dawkins is a former collegiate football player, military officer, and political contender in the United States. From 1956 to 1958, Dawkins was a halfback for the Army Cadets football team at the United States Military Academy. He earned the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award, and was a consensus All-America selection as a senior in 1958.
He was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford after graduating from the Military Academy in 1959. Dawkins was a United States Army officer until 1983, when he retired with the rank of brigadier general. In 1988, he ran for the United States Senate as a Republican.
