Pema Chodron (about-Pema) is a Tibetan Buddhist nun who lives in the United States. Deirdre Blomfield-Brown, Pema Chodron's mother, was born in New York City in 1936. She graduated from the University of California in Berkeley after attending Miss Porter's School in Connecticut. She spent several years as an elementary school teacher in both New Mexico and California.
Pema is the mother of two children and the grandmother of three grandkids. Pema moved to the French Alps in her mid-thirties and met Lama Chime Rinpoche, with whom she studied for several years. In 1974, while studying in London under Lama Chime, she became a novice nun. His Holiness is a saint.
