Paul Tudor Jones

Paul Tudor Jones is the founder of Tudor Investment Corporation, which is the management company for his various private investment partnerships, also referred to as hedge funds. Jones was born in Memphis, Tennessee and attended the University of Virginia where he earned a degree in economics. After graduation he worked as a clerk on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Eventually he went to work with his cousin trading cotton future on the New York Cotton Exchange.

In 1980 Jones founded Tudor Investment Corporation which is a leading asset management firm headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut. The corporation is involved in active trading, investing and research in the global equity, venture capital, debt, currency, and commodity markets. One of Jones’ earliest and major successes was predicting Black Monday in 1987, tripling his fortune during the event due to large short positions. Currently Jones’ firm manages $17.7 billion. Their investment capabilities are broad and diverse, including global macro trading, fundamental equity investing in the U.S. and Europe, emerging markets, venture capital, commodities, event-driven strategies, and technical trading systems.
