Patrick Bruel is a Jewish-born French musician, actor, and professional poker player. Patrick is the son of Pierre Benguigui and Augusta Kammoun, Elie and Céline ben Sidoun's daughter. When the Crémieux Decree provided full French citizenship to Algeria's indigenous Jews in 1870, his family became French.
Bruel hoped to be a football star as a child, but after watching Michel Sardou in 1975, he chose to pursue music. However, it was as an actor in 1979's Le Coup de sirocco that he achieved his first triumph. While pursuing his singing career, he continued to perform in films, on television, and on the stage.
