About Paolo Nutini
Paolo Nutini Biography
Paolo Giovanni Nutini, a Scottish singer, songwriter, and musician from Paisley, was born on January 9, 1987. Although his father is of Italian origin from Barga, Tuscany, and his family has lived in Scotland for three generations, both of his parents are Scottish. These Streets, Paolo Nutini's first album, was released in the United Kingdom by Atlantic Records in July 2006 and featured the songs Last Request, Jenny Don't Be Hasty, Rewind, and New Shoes, the latter of which was the most successful, reaching number five on the UK Singles Chart. The album was certified 4 Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry after reaching number three on the UK Album Chart (BPI). Sunny-Side Up, Nutini's second album, was released in May 2009 and debuted at number one in the UK, with four singles: Candy, Coming Up Easy, Pencil Full of Lead, and 10/10. The BPI has given it a 4x platinum rating thus far. It won Best International Album at the 2010 Meteor Awards on February 19, 2010. Paolo Nutini studied singing for three and a half years with Avril McCusker, although he had planned to join his father at the family fish and chip store. His music-loving grandpa, Jackie, and a teacher at his school, St Andrews Academy, were the ones who initially pushed him to sing. He dropped out of school to work as a roadie and sell Speedway t-shirts. He studied the music industry for three years while also playing live. Later, he worked at Glasgow's Park Lane Studio as a studio worker. At the beginning of 2003, he got his big break when he went to a performance put on by 102.5 Clyde 1 to celebrate David Sneddon's return to Paisley. As the victor of an impromptu pop quiz, Nutini was granted the opportunity to play a couple of songs on stage while Sneddon was delayed. Brendan Moon, a member of the audience, was so thrilled by the positive response that he volunteered to be his manager. Paolo is still managed by Brendan and his business partner Mike Bawden. Nutini came to London at the age of 17 and began performing frequently at the Bedford bar in Balham. Other radio and live appearances followed, including two live acoustic spots on Radio London, The Hard Rock Cafe, and support roles for The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, and KT Tunstall, among others. Nutini performed in a variety of locations across the world in 2006, including King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, a TV performance on Later with Jools Holland, Carnegie Hall in New York, The Montreux Jazz Festival, The Wireless Festival, Oxegen, and T in the Park, among others. In Vienna, he backed the Rolling Stones, and in August 2006, he was invited to perform with them again at the Don Valley Stadium. Later in 2006, he was scheduled to perform at the V Festival and the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas, as well as a European tour in the fall. He also performed at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee in May 2006. Nutini made an appearance on BBC Scotland's Hogmanay Live festivities in 2006 when the formal Hogmanay celebrations at Princes Street Gardens were canceled owing to bad weather at the last minute. He played numerous songs for the TV audience in the Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle with little or no practice. Nutini played at a live-streamed performance on MSN Music on Wednesday, April 11th, 2007. On the second day of the Glastonbury Festival in June 2007, Nutini played on the iconic Pyramid Stage. On July 7, 2007, Nutini played in the UK leg of Live Earth at Wembley Stadium, performing a rendition of Bob Thiele, George David Weiss, and George Douglas' iconic pop song What A Wonderful World. The next day, he performed in Scotland at T in the Park. On December 10, 2007, he played at the Ahmet Ertegün Tribute Musical, which garnered a lot of international attention because it was Led Zeppelin's first full live concert performance in 27 years.
