Brown was born in Lexington, Kentucky, to John Y.

Brown Jr., a businessman and former Governor of Kentucky, and Phyllis George, a former Miss America, and entrepreneur. Pamela George was born while George was on maternity leave from CBS' renowned NFL pregame broadcast, The NFL Today. She is also the granddaughter of John Y., a politician. Brown, Sr. is the half-sister of John Y.
