Oliver Ryan is a Writer-Reporter. He joined FORTUNE in 2004 and has since written stories for all sections of the magazine with a focus on media and technology. Prior to joining FORTUNE Ryan worked from 1997 to 2002 for Knight Ridder Digital in San Jose CA most recently as Director of Business and Technology programming for the Real Cities network.
He was also General Manager of SiliconValley.com. Prior to joining Knight Ridder he spent three years at Wave Systems Corp. a technology start-up focused on secure e-commerce. He was a founding board member of Bay Area Performing Arts. Ryan has an M.S. in journalism from Columbia University an M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.A. in physics from Wesleyan.
