Niykee Heaton Biography

At age 5, Illinois native Niykee Heaton wrote her first song and taught herself to play the guitar as age 9. She devoted her entire childhood and high school years to songwriting. Her songwriting skills gave her an outlet to escape her troubled life at home. Niykee spent time outside of school writing and sharing original songs that exposed her powerful lyrics and soulful voice. The 19 year old gained massive recognition after WorldstarHipHop noticed her acoustic-guitar rendition of Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa” in December 2012. Niykee is expected to deliver a debut from Steve Rifkind and Russell Simmons’ All Def Music in partnership with Capitol Records which will reveal her unique songwriting skills. Niykee started posting pop covers on YouTube as a teenager and still continued to cultivate her songwriting skills. If by the time she turned 18 and her music career hadn’t taken off as planned, Niykee informed her parents that’ll she put songwriting away and attend college. Although she already promised her sister that she’d make an impact with her songs. Niykee showed up on WorldstarHipHop the day before her 18th after she discarded pop covers and started posting acoustic versions of music by hip hop artist Pusha T, Lil Wayne, Chief Keef and A$AP Rocky and record labels became interested in her sound. She graduated high school six months early and paid for the recording of many of songs. She eventually got signed to Steve Rifkind and Russell Simmons’ All Def Music and started working on her debut EP. In May 2013, Niykee was chosen by Snoop Dogg to accompany him onstage at the YouTube Brandcast event and since then, Niykee has continued to write songs. She continuously listens to the beats sent to her by up and coming producers and gets her songwriting ideas from these beats. Niykee’s past serves as an inspiration as she continues to develop her craft as a lyricist.
