Nico & Vinz originally known as Envy made their debut appearance in 2011 at the Emergenza Festival. They won first place in the category for new emerging artists at the Taubertal Open Air Festival World's Emergenza Final. Following their success, the duo dropped Dreamworks: Why Not Me which was a mixtape under the name Envy.
The duo released their debut single One Song in June 2011 and on the Norwegian Singles Chart, it peaked at No. 19. Also, On April 27, 2012, their debut studio album The Magic Soup and the Bittersweet Faces was released and on the Norwegian Albums Chart it charted At No. 37.
