Nicholas Negroponte is an architect who was born in Greece and raised in the United States. He created the One Laptop per Child Association and is the founder and Chairman of Emeritus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab (OLPC). In 1966, Negroponte joined the MIT faculty.
He split his time between MIT and many visiting professorships at Yale, Michigan, and the University of California, Berkeley, for several years following that. Negroponte formed the Architecture Machine Group at MIT in 1967, which served as a lab and think tank for novel approaches to human-computer interaction. Negroponte and Jerome B. Wiesner founded the MIT Media Lab in 1985.
