About Nathan Whitaker
Nathan Whitaker Biography
Nathan Whitaker is the co-author of the #1 New York Times bestselling book Quiet Strength and the founder of Whitaker Partners, LLC, a business that represents coaches and front-office staff. He was a two-sport athlete at Duke University, playing baseball and football for Steve Spurrier on Duke's most recent ACC Championship football team and graduating with honors in English and Political Science in 1991. He then went on to Harvard Law School, where he graduated with honors in 1994 and began his diversified professional career. He worked as a legal clerk for United States District Judge William Terrell Hodges for two years before joining Smith, Helms, Mulliss & Moore, LLP in Greensboro, NC, where he handled general commercial litigation and employment law. Whitaker left the business in 1998 to work for the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he was in charge of football operations and budgeting as well as salary cap and player contract negotiations. After two seasons with the Jaguars, he moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, switching leagues and coastlines. He first met Tony Dungy in Tampa, where he was working on legal, salary cap, and scouting issues. He began a three-year quest to write a book in 2004, during which time he worked as the Director of Community at Van Dyke United Methodist Church in Lutz, Florida. During this time, he also established Whitaker Partners, LLC, where he and his father, a Gainesville, Florida attorney, assist coaches and administrators with professional and personal problems. Tony Dungy's memoir, Quiet Strength, was released in July 2007 and marked the end of his book-writing adventure. It has sold over a million and a half copies since its debut, making it one of the best-selling hardcover sports autobiographies of all time. It is also the longest-tenured sports-related book in the top ten of the New York Times hardcover nonfiction list. With Tim Tebow, he co-authored the New York Times bestsellers "Uncommon," "The Mentor Leader," "You Can Do It!," "You Can Be a Friend," and "Through My Eyes," as well as "Role of a Lifetime" with CBS Sports' James Brown. Whitaker and his wife, two children, and two rescued pets presently reside in Florida.
