Nancy Landon Kassebaum Baker is an American politician who served in the United States Senate from 1978 to 1997, representing Kansas. She is the daughter of Alf Landon, who served as Governor of Kansas from 1933 to 1937 and was the Republican presidential contender in 1936, and the widow of Howard Baker, a former Senator, and ambassador.
She was the first woman to be elected to the Senate for a full term without having previously served in Congress alongside her husband.
