Nabil Sakkab Biography

Dr. Nabil Y. Sakkab is a businessman, a speaker, and an author. Dr. Sakkab currently works as a consultant for a number of firms and private equity funds. He was a member of Procter & Gamble's Leadership Council and Innovation Committee before retiring as Senior Vice President of Corporate R&D. He held many jobs with P&G during his career, including directing innovation for both developed and emerging regions on a number of businesses in Cincinnati, Ohio; Brussels, Belgium; and Kobe, Japan. Following a Ph.D. in chemistry at the Illinois Institute of Technology and postdoctoral studies at Texas A&M, he joined P&G in Cincinnati in 1974. Sakkab is a member of the Altria Group, Inc. Board of Directors and chairs the board's innovation committee. In addition, he serves on the boards of Givaudan, Aplion Medical, Biowish Technologies, Creata Ventures, and Deinove. Dr. Sakkab is the co-inventor of more than 27 patents and the author of various scientific and innovation management articles. He has been featured in The Economist, Financial Times, and many other notable business magazines as a thought leader and worldwide speaker in the Open Innovation movement. He received the National Industrial Research Institute (IRI) Medal in May 2007, a distinction that acknowledges and celebrates technology leaders for their great achievements in technical innovation that contribute substantially to the development of industry and the welfare of society. Dr. Sakkab received the renowned Maurice Holland Award in October 2007 for a paper he co-wrote on R&D leadership and management. He is known for speaking on themes relating to innovation.
