Myles Porter discovered judo through a class at UT and has been passionate about the sport ever since. Porter who is legally blind fought for a medal at his first major international competition - the 2006 Blind World Championships - and placed fifth in his division.
Later that year he became just the third legally blind judo player ever to earn a national ranking among sighted athletes when he placed second at the Dallas Invitational a USA Judo Senior E-Level Point Tournament.In October 2009 Porter won a bronze medal at the Rendez-Vous Canada a USA Judo B-Level Point Tournament where he fought against sighted players.
