Monica Pope, a native of Texas, has been transforming Houston's culinary industry since opening her first restaurant in 1992. She dreamed of "creating a restaurant and altering the way Houston eats" as a high school student. Pope uses interactive cooking courses and Pop-Ups in a Field or other beautiful location to convey her enthusiasm for linking local farmers and co-producers.
Pope has received national acclaim, including a James Beard Award nomination and a position on Bravo's Top Chef Masters' second season in 2010. Because of her food philosophy, eat where your food lives, she is still the first female Texas chef to be named a Top Ten Best New Chef by Food & Wine magazine.
