Mireille Mathieu is a singer and performer from France. Mathieu's first public performance was at Midnight Mass when she was four years old! Mireille earned money from working in a factory as a kid to pay for singing lessons and trained with Laure Collière, a vocal coach.
Johnny Stark, the manager of French pop artist Johnny Hallyday, signed Mathieu in the early 1960s after noticing her on the TV show Jeu de la Chance, where she won first place. Her 1965 performance run at the Paris Olympia sparked her recording relationship with Barclay Records, where her first album sold over one million copies.
