Mike Rhoades, the head coach of the Rice University Owls men's basketball team, was born on September 21, 1972. Rhoades accepted a position on Shaka Smart's staff at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. Rhoades was a member of the Rams' Final Four team in the 2010-11 season, as well as four NCAA tournament teams in a row.
Rhoades was hired as head coach of Rice University on March 25, 2014, succeeding Ben Braun.
