One of the three men on Apollo 11 was Michael Collins. While Collins did not walk on the moon like his colleagues Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, he was an important component of the mission as the command module pilot, staying in orbit above the moon while the other two did.
Collins was the fourth person to walk in space and the first to do it more than once. He is one of only 24 individuals in history to fly to the moon. Collins attended the United States Military Academy and served in the Air Force before becoming an astronaut.
