Mike Brennan is the head coach of American University's men's basketball team and a former professional European basketball player for teams in Belgium and Portugal. He worked as an assistant coach at Columbia University, Georgetown University, Princeton University, and American University in the past. In April 2013, Brennan was named the head coach of AU. Brennan guided the Eagles to a second-place regular-season finish in the Patriot League, a Patriot League Tournament Championship, and a ticket to the 2014 NCAA Tournament in his first season with the team, despite being expected to finish ninth in the Patriot League in the preseason poll. As a result of this turnaround, he was voted Patriot League Coach of the Year in 2014.
