Before Miguel, a singer, songwriter, and producer recorded his first hit single and rose to prominence as one of pop-most R&B's most important performers, he spent a few years working behind the scenes and dabbling in the public eye. The 16-year-old resident of San Pedro, California, worked for the production business Drop Squad.
Three years later, he was given the chance to join Fatty Koo and even take part in their BET reality program, but he declined and instead chose to sign with the Black Ice record company. Getcha Hands Up! was released as a song in 2006, and BET aired the music video.
