Michelle Borkin's 3-D imaging research employs astronomical techniques to aid surgeons in visualizing patients' hearts. Michelle earned a B.A. in Astronomy & Astrophysics and Physics from Harvard University in 2006. Under the direction of Alyssa Goodman and Michael Halle, she authored her undergraduate junior and senior theses on the application of medical imaging tools to astronomical data.
She continued this work at the IIC for the following two years as part of the Astronomical Medicine initiative. She collaborated with the creators of visualization tools such as 3D Slicer to increase their efficacy in a variety of scientific fields (including astronomy).
