Michael Papajohn earned All-Conference honors in baseball and received an A.A. degree. The Texas Rangers drafted Michael in 1985; however he chose not to sign and instead attended Louisiana State University (LSU) on a baseball scholarship.
Michael was a two-year starter for the Tigers team that went to the College World Series for the first time in 1986 and again in 1987. In the spring of 1987 he graduated from LSU with a degree in general studies and a minor in communications.
