In 2012 Gallagher directed co-wrote and produced his first narrative feature film 'Smiley' which received a theatrical release through AMC Independent. Mark Olsen of the Los Angeles Times called Smiley a surprisingly effective low-budget horror film that takes as its true villain the casual cynicism and nihilistic misanthropy that so often go along with online culture. Gallagher is also a Co-Founder of Maker Studios which in 2014 was purchased by Disney.
