Michael Cooper is a former NBA player who now coaches in the NBA Development League. He played college football at the University of New Mexico, where he was selected first-team All-Western Athletic Conference and led his team to the WAC title in his senior year. The Los Angeles Lakers selected him in the 1978 NBA Draft.
He spent his entire NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was selected to eight NBA All-Defense Teams. He was a part of five Lakers championship teams and received the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1987.
