Michael Chiklis, an Emmy and Golden Globe winner, was born on August 30, 1963, in Lowell, Massachusetts. Chiklis, who is bilingual, is of Greek American ancestry on his father's side. He developed his love of acting by impersonating celebrities in front of his family as a youngster. Chiklis studied Fine Arts at Boston University College of Fine Arts before pursuing a career in acting. Michael Chiklis made his cinematic debut in 1989 with the picture Wired. He shaved his head for his role in You Can't Take It With You when he was 20 and made the mistake of removing it with grease paint. As an actor, this damaged his hair follicles and was a traumatic experience for him. Chiklis appeared as a guest star on shows such as Miami Vice, L.A. Law, Murphy Brown, and Seinfeld. He also had a brief role in Nixon, but his performance in The Commish received critical acclaim. After that, he starred in the NBC sitcom Daddio, which was short-lived. He subsequently went on to play Curly Howard in a Three Stooges television movie before deciding to change his look.
