Mette and Rolf Hay are founders of the Danish design brand Hay which sells high-quality affordable furniture and housewares done in collaboration with designers from all over the world. Founded in 2002 and based in Copenhagen the brand has expanded globally with stores elsewhere in Europe China Japan and North America. In 2017 Hay developed a capsule collection for Ikea.
In 2018 the designers created limited-edition colorways for Sonos's One speaker. Last year the American furniture giant Herman Miller acquired 33% of Hay for $60 million. The acquisition is helping Hay build a presence and supply chain in the United States. Hay is now sold at Design Within Reach and has stores in Portland Ore. and Costa Mesa Calif.
