Matt Rose is the executive chairman of BNSF Railway Company, having previously served as the company's chief executive officer and chairman for thirteen years, during which time BNSF was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway in 2010. Rose was named president and chief operating officer in June 1999.
Prior to that, he was senior vice president and chief operations officer for over two years. Rose joined the Burlington Northern Railroad (BN) in 1993 and worked in the Merchandise Business Unit for several years. Prior to that, he worked in the transportation sector in various capacities.
