The Matthew Johnstone lectures look at the power of our ideas and how directing them in a good direction may have a massive impact on our well-being and happiness. Johnstone earned a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Otago Polytechnic. In 1993, he became the Senior Art Director at Saatchi and Saatchi Sydney, where he began his career in advertising.
He returned to the same position at Foote, Cone, and Belding San Francisco after only three years. Johnstone subsequently moved on to Merkley and Partners as Associate Creative Director, where he stayed for the required four years. He chose to shift careers after 12 years in the advertising sector.
