Maryam Rajavi, in her new role as the Iranian Resistance's President-elect, poses a strong political, social, cultural, and intellectual threat to the governing mullahs. Women rose to prominence in the ranks of the Resistance under her leadership. Women constitute up half of the NCRI's membership. They are involved in the resistance's political, international, social, and cultural activities in various capacities.
Rajavi has lectured extensively on modern and democratic views of Islam, as opposed to reactionary and fundamentalist interpretations. Women, the Force for Change" and "Islam, Women, and Equality" are books based on her many addresses at conferences across the world. She's also raised awareness of Iran's rich, yet threatened, artistic and cultural legacy.
