Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28, 1952) is an American actress who has appeared in films, on stage, and on television. She was nominated for Academy Awards for her parts in Dances with Wolves as Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish as May-Alice Culhane.
McDonnell is most recognized for her roles in Battlestar Galactica as President Laura Roslin, Independence Day as the First Lady, and Donnie Darko as the main character's mother. McDonnell has been playing Captain Sharon Raydor on Major Crimes since 2012.
