Mary Beth Albright Biography

Food expert and food attorney, Mary Beth Albright competed on Food Network Star’s Iron Chef America and became a finalist. Her mentor, legendary Surgeon General C. Everett Koop fueled her passion for good food. She worked with Dr. Koop on health and food issues for 15 years and later managed a White House initiative and advised on food systems. Albright attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore as an undergraduate. She completed L'Academie de Cuisine's two-semester culinary course in Bethesda, Md. She also worked at Roll Call, the oldest Capitol Hill newspaper and at the D.Cc law firm of Williams & Connolly. Mary Beth is a regular panel moderator for the Smithsonian and the U.S. State Department and her food-judging skills is required regularly. Like the time she ate 2,000 kinds of food in three days to judge the Outstanding New Products Awards competition. When she isn’t busy in the food world, Mary Beth co-chairs the National Cathedral Elementary School Scholarship Fund's 40th anniversary, which raised almost $1 million and also serves on multiple boards. She is an elected member an esteemed group of women in the culinary professions known as Dames d'Escoffier and among its alumnae is Julia Child. Mary Beth attended Georgetown Law School (graduating cum laude) and Georgetown University Law Center, JD. She also earned a BA in history at The Johns Hopkins University. Mary Beth lives with her 10-year-old son Truman in Washington, D.C. Truman enjoys discussing about Basketball.
